Club Events

Clive Pearce, the club’s Field Captain and a very experienced recurve archer, has kindly offered to do a session on the basics of looking after your bow to keep it shooting smoothly and safely.

It’s one of those things that we tend to take for granted that people will ‘pick up’ but some events and discussions during our winter shoots and coaching sessions have highlighted that it would be helpful for our newer archers if we did something structured on the subject. The session will cover all of the key basics and will take no more than a couple of hours. 

If you haven’t already put your name down and want to join the session, that will be fine; please just add your name to the WhatsApp vote for 1 March.

If you want to bring your bow with you, there’ll be the opportunity to practise what you’ve just learned with help if needed.

And there’ll be free biscuits to go with the club tea and coffee.

I will be doing a short session on handicaps on Sunday 2nd March at 10am in the club hut.
Session will cover what a handicap is, how you get one, improve it and use it to compete in things like our handicap shoot. I can look at your individual handicaps/scores and answer any specific questions you may have.
After, we can go out and shoot a qualifying round or 2. No need to sign up, just turn up on the day.

MARCH COACHING SESSION

Our next session will be on Saturday 22 March, 1000-1200.  

Everyone is very welcome, whether you‘ve done any previous sessions or not.  If you’d like to join us, please let me know.  There are 10 places.  

As usual, the session will involve us working together to identify specific aspects of your technique to develop.  If there are any particular things you’d like to talk about / focus on, we’ll be happy to include those.

You’ll each get some 1:1 coaching time and there will also be things in common across the group to practise and discuss.  

You’ll leave having learnt something about your own technique, which should help you develop your shooting skills.

Juniors are very welcome, with the usual club rule applying of being accompanied by an adult.

We will shoot at shorter distances, as this will be about working on technique.  All you’ll need is your own equipment.

Although we shoot in most weather conditions, if it’s particularly poor, we may need to adjourn at short notice, so please keep an eye on WhatsApp as the date approaches.
