The Colchester & District Archery Club’s ‘WRS WA1440’
Event date: Sunday 20th September 2026 – gates open at 8:00 am, Equipment inspections at 8:30 am. Assembly at 9:00 am. Practice will be at 9:15 am – with the event commencing by 9:30 am.
This is the first year that CADAC have put on this shoot (after 2025’s successful Double WA720), and therefore all Archers must expect to shoot a maximum of 90 or 70 metres (depending upon gender). Junior archers (under 18) are welcome to shoot at this event, but ticketing, rounds & medals will not provide for or differentiate age groups.
Parking is free in the Colchester Rugby Club car park, after registration on an iPad in the CADAC clubhouse.
The WA1440 is a metric round where male Archers shoot three dozen arrows (36) at 90 metres, followed by three dozen arrows at each of the following distances: 70, 50 and 30 metres.
36 Arrows at each distance gives a total of 144 arrows shot… each arrow is worth a maximum of ten points and – therefore – a maximum score of 1440 points can be achieved.
The ladies 1440 (also known as a Metric 1) is three dozen (36 arrows) shot at each of 70, 60, 50 and 30 metres.
The longer distances (90m and 70m for men and 70m and 60m for women) are shot at a 122cm target face, the shorter distances (50m and 30m for both) are shot at an 80cm target face.
Targets will be foam bosses on ‘H’ frames.
Archery GB Rules of Shooting will apply.
The 2026 tournament will have World Record Status.
